Paglaom Studio

In the quaint corner of creativity, what began as a simple candle-making hobby blossomed into an inspiring entrepreneurial journey. Today, we're thrilled to share the story of Paglaom Studio, and the artisan behind whose passion for crafting beautiful candles not only brightened homes but also attracted a remarkable boost from the government – a heartwarming tale of turning dreams into reality.

The Genesis of a Hobby:

Katrina Ruth Ramos

Katrina Ruth Ramos, a baguio-based enthusiast, stumbled upon the world of candle making through a casual DIY project. What started as a weekend escape soon turned into an irresistible passion. Drawn by the mesmerizing dance of flames and the soothing aroma of essential oils, Ruth found joy in the art of candle crafting.

From Hobbyist to Entrepreneur:

As the demand for Paglaom Studio's unique creations grew among friends and family, Ruth began to envision a path beyond mere hobbyist status. The decision to transform the beloved pastime into a business was not only about sharing the warmth of handmade candles and nostalgic scent of Baguio City but also fostering a connection with a wider community.

Crafting a Unique Brand:

Distinguishing Paglaom Studio in a saturated market was no easy feat. Ruth poured heart and soul into curating a distinctive collection, focusing on quality, sustainability, and artistic expression from the local city of Baguio. Each candle became a canvas, blending colors, scents, and designs to reflect Ruth's personal experience on the joy of creating a lasting memory of baguio city through its scents.

The Turning Point: Government Assistance:

National Arts and Crafts Fair 2023

In a turn of fate, Ruth discovered an opportunity to apply for government grants aimed at supporting small businesses. By joining the National Arts and Crafts Fair last October 2023 held in SM Megamall. In the said event, Senator Loren Legarda personally handpicked small business owners to be given a livelihood grant.  We were so lucky to be one of chosen small businesses.National Arts and Crafts Fair 2023

The Big News: P30,000 Boost:

The excitement reached its peak when Ruth received the news – Paglaom Studio had been awarded a P30,000 grant from the government! This unexpected windfall paved the way for expanding the business, upgrading equipment, and reaching a broader audience. For this grant we were able to choose a set of equipment or raw materials to be awarded with the help of DOLE- Baguio. As for Paglaom Studio they requested to receive an equipment for a 12 layer drying rack, 15 tray racks and 3 sacks of soy wax that can greatly benefit the production process and add to the raw materials for the business.

In a heartfelt message, Ruth expresses gratitude to the government, Senator Loren Legarda, DTI Baguio - Benguet and Maam Layla Corro for recognizing and supporting the dreams of small business owners.
